At Making Room, we believe the magic happens in the making. It's about slowing down, getting curious, and letting the medium shape the process. We create opportunities to explore, experiment, and enjoy the simple pleasure of making something by hand. Here, the focus is on the experience rather than the outcome, on being present, trying something new, and finding joy in the creative process, whatever the final product may be.
A little about me...
Growing up I attended a small, "alternative school", where the focus was on arts and expression. My earliest school memories include weaving on floor looms, dipping reeds into warm water for basket weaving, conducting
endless glaze experiments, and quietly building small wooden figures that would later be thrown out. I never made anything out of the pursuit of perfection, it was about curiosity, experimentation, and learning to trust the process.
As an adult, I immersed myself in the fashion industry and spent the last 10 years climbing the corporate ladder in New York. Navigating the pace and pressure of corporate life, I found myself returning to creation again and again. Not to master a skill or produce something perfect, but to reconnect with myself and to have an outlet for all the stress. Creating became a way for me to unwind after a long work trip and a stressful day.
That experience became the foundation for Making Room.
What I've discovered is that the benefits of making reach far beyond the finished piece. When you create, you practice trusting your intuition. You learn to embrace uncertainty and follow your own instincts. Those lessons ripple outward into personal life, relationships, and work.
Creativity creates confidence.
